JG Productions, & Just Oh, How Much We Have Been Through

So, the word has been out for quite some time now, the JG Holiday Spectacular has been revamped from top to bottom. We have a new logo, new equipment, a new set, the show has re-located, it is basically an entirely new show with the same name. We also finished my second Christmas album today, and that’s very sweet!

I could imagine there are a few of you scratching your heads and thinking, why the hell did I invest all this time and money into revamping a show that was perfectly fine last year, and why even hold the damn thing when we have a deadly virus going around? Ok, it is a long story, an incredibly long story if you really care to hear about it. It was a combination of things. No, it did not happen overnight. There were many things that led to the format revamp.

The first one was, losing our former venue, The Burlingame Recreation Center, where the Holiday Spectacular took place in 2018 and in 2019. At one point, this was before COVID-19, and even we even had the 2019 show, I knew things were gonna change for the Spectacular in 2020. This was the beginning of the end of the old JG Productions.

The second one was technical difficulties with the sound equipment that was provided at the Burlingame Rec Center on the 2019 show. This resulted in a huge disagreement between me and the staff at the Rec Center after that show, because they knew their equipment was faulty and they did nothing about it, and did not give us a refund for it, (it was expensive to rent that equipment). Believe me, I was enraged, so was my mom. This is what prompted me to buy my own equipment, and plus I knew I would need it for future shows, since at this point, I kinda knew I was on my own with this show.

The third, and probably the biggest reason, was the COVID-19 pandemic. During the California stay-at-home order, I produced several virtual concerts under the name of JG Live, which received incredibly positive feedback, and it was a way to entertain people during what was and still is the most unprecedented time in the world. Unfortunately, after doing a few of these shows, we started to have technical difficulties on these shows around June 2020, including one time where I had to stop the show, and shut the broadcast down, and restart it, and believe me, that was very difficult, and I felt so horrible about it. An almost similar thing happened weeks later on the JG Fourth Of July Spectacular.

At this point, I was done. I decided it was time for a break. (I did have several other shows scheduled before the holiday spectacular, but I pre-empted those from my schedule, and believe me, it was one of the best decisions I have made since I started producing.) I realized that doing these shows were no longer fun, and all it did was cause me stress, so I decided it wasn’t healthy to continue on like that. It wasn’t good for me, and it wasn’t good for people to see me like this, as it is not what they tune in for. It wasn’t a fair deal. So I took roughly a month off, got my priorities straight, and also got my bedroom remodeled, which allowed me to build the new studio I am sitting in right now as I write this!

So I built my new recording studio, I then produced a special show for my dear friend Maxwell Campos, for his 21st birthday. He absolutely loved that, so did his mom, as well as everybody else who was there and who had tuned in. At this point I realized that my magic wasn’t lost, it just needed a little rest, and from that point onward, I have been on fire and back better than ever before. And since that show of his I have been working incredibly hard on what is going to be one of the biggest and best shows I have ever produced, the 3rd Annual JG Holiday Spectacular. We got an all-new format, and it is going to be amazing. It has been a JOY producing this show these last few months, the minute I sat down in this studio and I began to work on this show, I could just feel that this is going to be a good show. And so what I cannot find another venue? We came up with a plan to make it work and broadcast the show from my home, and that is exactly what we are doing. And let me say, it is going to feel SO GOOD to have a live studio audience again, something I have been missing for months. Everything happens for a reason, and I believe that what has happened at JG Productions this year all happened the way it was supposed to happen. I sure as hell didn’t expect a pandemic to reroute my entire year, but for the holiday spectacular, it was a blessing. I have more fans than ever now, and JG Nation if you are reading this, this one is for YOU! I cannot wait for December 11, and I cannot wait to celebrate the end of what has been the most horrific year ever, and what better way to do it than with all of you?
